I have three LILL bags; diaper bag – the most stylish in the State of Maine, a makeup bag and pictured here my customized Maggie bag. I love all of my bags but this is my favorite because I designed it with Maggie – the Maggie that it is named after, who is my dearest friend. I had to have a Maggie bag and now every day when I use my bag I am reminded of Maggie and it makes me smile.

"My LILL handbag is not just a handbag. My handbag is a reminder of a wonderful memory. My college friends and I reunited after 2 years to bid farewell to one of my closest friends as she moved to San Francisco from Boston. Each of us was able to create something as individual as we were but with the memory that comes from being a part of a whole. A handbag is an extremely personal preference. In my handbag, I keep my identification and my assets organized and near me. I remember sleeping with these things tied around my neck while backpacking in Europe, and I certainly understand now the importance of keeping who we are as close to ourselves as possible. I love that my LILL bag means as much to me as a photograph. It is a documentation of who I was at a specific time and who I chose to surround myself with. I keep my fondest memories fresh everytime I use my LILL bag."

I visited the Halsted store in April with Mom in mind. I designed a purse that I knew she'd love and as I handed it to her on Mother's Day this year, I was even more confident - it suited her perfectly. Little did I know that this purse would symbolize not only the newfound bond that my mom and I have formed since I moved 2 years ago, but also the ability that love has to help people through even the most difficult situations.
My mom took that bag everywhere with her (work, shopping, etc) filled with her daily necessities, but it wasn't until her open-heart surgery this July that "Polly" truly proved her worth. My mom went to the hospital with Polly in arm and returned home, in good health, the same way. Polly accompanied my mom when I could not, at a very traumatic time for my whole family.
For my mom, the bag is a reminder of our love, and for me it's a reminder of my mom's strength and bravery. My LILL - Mom's LILL - has always been, and will always be, more than just a purse.
